Event Description

Join investment professionals from around the world at the 2009 CFA Institute Annual Conference to be held April 26-29 in Orlando. Many volunteers throughout the region have been actively working to make this year’s conference one you will find valuable personally and professionally. We are proud to be hosting the largest CFA Institute event of the year and hope you will plan to attend. This is also a great opportunity to introduce colleagues who are not members to the CFA Institute community.

In addition to the $300 discount you receive as a CFA Institute member, the first 50 members of the CFA Society of South Florida will receive a $100 discount by entering the promotional code SFL-09. (CFA Institute will verify membership. New members and candidates who are not yet members can use the printable registration form and fax it directly to CFA Institute. CFA Society of South Florida members who have already registered without using the code can call 800-247-8132 or email to receive the rebate).

The conference will offer an unparalleled look at trends and investment issues critical to success in today's global marketplace, and renowned speakers will share their thoughts and provide insights on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Featured speakers include authors Michael Lewis (Liar’s Poker, Moneyball, Panic: The Story of Modern Financial Insanity) and James B. Stewart (Den of Thieves, Disney Wars), Nouriel Roubini of RGE Monitor, Richard Thaler of the University of Chicago, Andrew Lo of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and noted investors Bill Miller, CFA of Legg Mason, Max Holmes of distressed debt firm Plainfield Asset Management, and Whitney Tilson of the Tilson Funds, among others.

Morning plenary sessions will be complemented by focused afternoon sessions in fixed income, equity, alternative investments, private wealth management, portfolio management, and firm management. Topics will include:

  • Global systemic risks and the financial consequences of recent central bank and other governmental policy actions
