 Candidate Associate Membership

The Associate Candidate Membership is available to BC candidates currently enrolled in the CFA Program.

It is the goal of CFA Society Vancouver and its directors to ensure candidates have all the support they require to be successful in passing the CFA Program exams, and we feel the following membership benefits accomplish this.

The Associate Membership for candidates is optional, but strongly encouraged.  The membership fee is $70 Canadian per year and is paid directly to CFA Society Vancouver.  Memberships run from July 1 to June 30 and will not be prorated or cancelled throughout the year.

NOTE:  Candidates applying for this membership are required to submit a membership application and agreement prior to being accepted as a Candidate Associate Member.  Membership dues are payable upon acceptance as a member.

A Day in the Life


A small group of candidates will have the opportunity to meet with CFA charterholders from different professions and learn how they achieved their success.


Level I - LI: SS9 FRA3 Inventories & Long-li​ved Assets


A basic introduction to financial statement analysis and long-lived assets, which will provide Level I candidates with a strong foundation to write the CFA exam.  Candidates will also learn strategies to successfully prepare for the Level I exam.


Level II - LII: SS5 FRA1 Inventories & Long-lived Assets: Implications for Financial Statements and Ratios


This workshop will build on the material covered in the Level I workshop with emphasis on how the following topics impact financial statements and the corresponding impact on ratios for the purpose of credit (lending) and equity (investing) analysis.


  • IFRS vs. US GAAP
  • Straight-line vs. Weighted-average​
  • Write-downs, Revaluations
  • Additional other comprehensive income vs. income statement

Pub Nights (June & October) 

CFA Vancouver will host two pub nights for candidates to network and share exam experiences.
