David J. Smith, CFA
Mr. Smith is the Managing Director and founding partner of Pinnacle Fund Services, a global provider of full service investment fund administration. He is responsible for the delivery of fund administration services to clients and investors, the development of Pinnacle's technology platform and operating systems and the strategic and business development of the company. Prior to founding Pinnacle, Mr. Smith was the founding partner of Pinnacle Fund Administration LLC in the United States, which was subsequently sold to Apex Fund Services. He commenced his career with Grant Thornton in Vancouver and then moved to Bermuda, first at Ernst & Young and then at Prime Management Limited. Mr. Smith is a Chartered Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Queen's University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is the current President of CFA Society Vancouver and is the Treasurer of Christ Church Cathedral.
Duane Tup Chong, CFA
Mr. Tup Chong is a Partner with KPMG LLP providing audit, accounting and advisory services to clients primarily in the financial services industry. His clients include chartered banks, credit unions, investment funds and investment dealers. In addition to his clients, he holds a number of leadership roles within KPMG including the lead human resource manager for his business unit, University Campus Recruiter, and Chair of the firm’s learning committee. Mr. Tup Chong graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. After completing his Chartered Accountant designation with honors in 2006, Duane obtained his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation in 2009. During his spare time, he enjoys travelling and playing sports; most particularly, playing ice hockey in the winter and golfing in the summer.
David (Wally) Trueman, CFA
Mr. Trueman is a Fixed Income Trader with Odlum Brown Limited,
an independent full-service investment firm based in Vancouver, BC. His responsibilities include trading corporate and government bonds, currencies and new issues on behalf of Odlum Brown’s clients. He graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1997 with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Finance) and became a CFA charterholder in 2003. Mr. Trueman lives with his wife and three children in Richmond BC. An active member of the community, he can frequently be found coaching minor hockey and baseball.
Jessie Bobinski, CFA
Following graduation from the BCIT Financial Management Program, Ms. Bobinski began her career in financial services in the private client department of a large independent investment counsel firm. After eight years in this role, and immediately prior to joining Dixon Mitchell, she spent five years managing discretionary investment portfolios for physicians and their families within a Canadian member-owned organization. Ms. Bobinski brings extensive experience to Dixon Mitchell’s private client offering, where she specializes in investment policy management, portfolio allocation, and business development. In addition to being a CFA Charterholder and Certified Financial Planner, she currently serves as director of CFA Society Vancouver. She is also Treasurer of the Benefits and Caring Committee, a financial industry organization operating in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada, and is an active volunteer with Junior Achievement Canada.
Graeme Baker, CFA, MSc
Mr. Baker is an institutional portfolio manager at PH&N IM. Prior to joining PH&N IM in 2010, he worked as an analyst in the investment banking division of a Canadian financial services firm specializing in sustainability, mining and technology sectors. Before that, Mr. Baker supported corporate finance activities including originating and executing public and private financings at another Canadian investment firm. He started in the investment industry in 2005 at a global financial services firm in London, UK, providing analysis in a number of research, trading and sales roles. Mr. Baker is a CFA charterholder and is supporting CFA Society Vancouver's Forecast Dinner Committee.
Eric Bukovinsky, CFA
Mr. Bukovinsky is the Principal at Yaletown Partners. He manages Fund II's investment in Columbia Green, serves as Board Observer for Chaordix, and has contributed significantly to Fund II sourcing, due diligence and governance. Mr. Bukovinsky joined the Firm as Analyst in 2008, and led the formulation of Yaletown's portfolio analysis, performance measurement and valuation methodologies. He brings almost 15 years' experience to the Firm, having previously worked as analyst for investment banking firm Jefferies & Company and economic and strategy consultancy Analysis Group, both in Silicon Valley. He is a CFA charterholder.
Ethan Dang, CFA
Mr. Dang is a Portfolio Manager with Richardson GMP Limited, an independent, full-service wealth management firm. Prior to joining Richardson GMP Limited, he spent several years at a buy-side, boutique investment management firm in Vancouver where he was responsible for portfolio management, quantitative research and equity trading. Mr. Dang completed his Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia and started his career in the high-tech industry. Subsequently, he obtained a MBA in Finance from the University of British Columbia and became a CFA Charterholder. Mr. Dang is an active supporter of the community. He leads the Employer Outreach Committee of CFA Society Vancouver and is a Board Member of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC (ANHBC).
Michael Job, CFA
Michael joined Leith Wheeler Investment Counsel in September 2007 after graduating from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. While at Dalhousie, Michael majored in finance and completed co-op placements in equity research and investment banking at a major Canadian bank. At Leith Wheeler, Michael is responsible for managing both private client and not-for-profit institutional accounts. Michael sits on the CFA Society Vancouver Board of Directors and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Nick Karliychuk, CFA
Mr. Karliychuk is the Operations Manager with Dixon Mitchell Investment Counsel Inc., where he oversees several functions, including trading, portfolio allocation, transaction settlement, client reporting, technology, and business continuity. He has volunteered with CFA Society Vancouver since 2013 and has been responsible for organizing educational events. Mr. Karliychuk is Chairman of the Programs Committee. Outside of work, he enjoys travelling and exploring different cultures, as well as taking advantage of the many outdoor activities available in British Columbia's diverse terrain. Mr. Karliychuk is a CFA Charterholder.
Dmitri Kotliarov, CFA
Mr. Kotliarov brings to Travelers Capital over 7 years of renewable energy and project finance experience. Prior to joining Travelers Capital in 2013, he was involved in development and financing of commercial scale wind and hydro generation facilities, as well as electrical transmission systems in the US and Canada with Sea Breeze Power Corp. as Finance Manager. Mr. Kotliarov is a CFA charterholder and is the Membership Chair for CFA Society Vancouver. As well, he holds a B. Comm from the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia.
Elvis Picardo, CFA
Elvis Picardo is a Portfolio Manager at HollisWealth®, a division of Scotia Capital Inc. (HollisWealth). Prior to joining HollisWealth, he was Vice President-Research and a Portfolio Manager at Global Securities Corporation. He brings a global perspective to investment research and portfolio management, obtained through more than two decades of international capital markets experience in diverse disciplines. His experience spans a wide range of asset classes – equities, options, currencies and fixed income. Mr. Picardo received the CFA® charter in 1998. He also holds the Canadian Investment Manager designation, and degrees in engineering and management studies. He is a frequent contributor to a number of leading financial publications, and is an active volunteer and mentor.
Jordan Trimble, CFA
Jordan Trimble is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Skyharbour Resources, a TSX Venture listed uranium exploration and development company. Mr. Trimble holds a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Minor in Commerce from UBC and he is a CFA® charterholder. He has worked in the resource industry in various roles with numerous TSX Venture listed companies specializing in corporate finance and strategy, shareholder communications, marketing, deal structuring and capital raising. He has appeared on BNN several times and has given presentations at numerous resource conferences across North America. Mr. Trimble is also a director of the Face of Today charity which is a charitable organization comprised of young leaders with a mission to empower underprivileged individuals to achieve their life goals and provide a stepping stone for future development in the local community.
Michael Wallberg, CFA
Mr. Wallberg worked as a Canadian equity analyst and institutional portfolio manager during his 11 years with Phillips, Hager & North. He joined PH&N from Merrill Lynch, where he worked as an investment banker and global relationship manager in Calgary and London, UK. Mr. Wallberg graduated from the University of British Columbia with a B.Comm (hons) specializing in Finance in 1998 and received his CFA charter in 2003. He returned to UBC in 2012 to earn his Master of Journalism. He currently works as an award-winning freelance journalist and producer for CBC, as well as a content marketer for a banking software provider.
Tim Wilkinson, CFA
Mr. Wilkinson is a Senior Analyst/Trader and a Principal at Connor Clark and Lunn Investment Management Ltd. He works on the fixed income team spending the majority of his time on trade execution and risk management. Prior to his current role at the firm, he spent a number of years as a senior analyst on the business analytics team within the Connor Clark and Lunn Financial Group. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria and became a CFA Charterholder in 2007.
Tricia Wu, MBA, CFA, FRM
Ms. Wu joined the Institutional Portfolio Management team at Leith Wheeler Investment Counsel in October 2016, with over six years' experience in treasury, pensions, corporate finance, and risk management from Finning International and Taiga Building Products. She earned her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University. Ms. Wu holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designations. She is a member of the CFA Society Vancouver and chairs the Candidates Development Committee.

The Candidates Development Committee organizes programs and activities, which help CFA Program candidates and potential candidates address topics on the CFA Program, career development, career management, and career transition during and after the completion of the Program. The Committee also coordinates and administers the CFA Exam Scholarships twice per year, organizes information sessions at local post-secondary institutions, and offers the Boston Mock Exam to candidates.

The Major Events Committee organizes two high profile events each year, which include the Forecast Dinner in January and the CFA Day Networking Luncheon in June. The annual Forecast Dinner is considered one of CFA Society Vancouver's most prominent events. The dinner provides members and their clients with the opportunity to hear relevant unbiased forecasts of future market expectations. The CFA Day Networking Luncheon is a cross-designation event, which brings together members from a variety of organizations including CGA Association of BC, TMAC BC, Chartered Accountants of BC and CICBV.

The purpose of the Programs Committee is to provide educational programs that fit the mandate and strategy of CFA Society Vancouver, (e.g. professional development, networking, client relations, etc.), as well as the requirements of CFA Institute. The objective is to ensure quality programming is available for the CFA Society Vancouver membership, clients, investors and other professionals.

The University Outreach Committee's goals are to increase awareness of the designation amongst students and to enhance the Society's relationships with local universities and colleges.
