No changes have been made to Bulgaria’s pension model, even as the risk of higher taxes and rising public debt grows ever more tangible.

This was the central takeaway from the conference “Changes to the Pension Model in Bulgaria,” organized by CFA Society Bulgaria.

The discussion brought together leading experts, including:

Vladislav Goranov, former Minister of Finance

Nikolay Vassilev, Managing Partner at Expat Capital, President of CFA Society Bulgaria, and former Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria

Denitsa Sacheva, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Labour, Social and Demographic Policy and former Minister of Labour and Social Policy

Diana Yordanova, Deputy Chair of the Financial Supervision Commission

Vesela Karaivanova, Deputy Governor of the National Social Security Institute

🔹 The panel “Private Pension Funds” also featured prominent specialists:

Evelina Miltenova, Chair of the Board of the Bulgarian Association of Supplementary Pension Security Companies

Ivan Ivanov, Head of Investment Department at POC DSK-Rodina

Alexander Vuchkov, Head of Investment Management at UBB Pension Insurance

Pavlin Milanov, Head of Investment Management at Allianz Bulgaria

The discussion was moderated by Gloria Nikolova, CEO of CFA Society Bulgaria.

During the event, experts presented the new multi-fund pension model, designed to manage assets based on each individual’s life cycle and personal risk profile.

👥 Participants from government institutions, pension funds, and the financial sector exchanged ideas and recommendations to strengthen the pension system. Key focus areas included addressing demographic challenges and preparing the country for eurozone integration.

🎯 As a society and professional community, our ultimate goal is to support reforms that deliver higher returns and ensure the sustainability of Bulgaria’s pension system for future generations.

We thank all speakers and guests for their active contributions to this vital conversation!
