Crypto Assets: Show Me the Value!

When:  Mar 6, 2024 from 06:30 PM to 10:30 PM (CET)
Associated with  CFA Society Luxembourg

CFA Society Luxembourg and Swissquote Bank Europe invite you on a journey of exploration around crypto industry and other alternative assets.

How the boom, bust and (slow) rebound in crypto assets will change the way we consider and choose what’s worth investing in.

A common question investors continue to ask themselves is how to integrate crypto assets and block chain technology into a diversified portfolio.

From its technical start, Bitcoin aimed to provide peer-to-peer transfers of value that would also be resilient from the forces of devaluation. Its unchangeable technical constraints would enforce limited supply. This technology—blockchain—would offer a transfer system operating without having to trust others thus removing the risk of a failed counterparty.

The last two years have shown that despite the proven promise of blockchain’s security and reliability, the huge growth of a global industry—from various platforms to diverse crypto-currencies derived from them—didn’t mean we moved much from the common human tendencies repeated throughout financial history.

During the session, we will look at what investors and companies in the crypto industry faced from 2021 through 2023. These examples will reinforce that crypto and blockchain investments still depend on the basics of corporate governance, secure custodial services, appropriate regulation and enforcement and what the blockchain business is about.

The presentation will be followed by a networking cocktail.
