Event: Integration of Sustainability Factors into Investment Decisions

The event was held at the Best Western Premier Hotel Slon in Ljubljana on April 23rd, 2024. The discussion oriented around the practical aspects of integrating sustainability factors in the investment process, shedding light on both the opportunities and challenges associated with the approach. We were honoured to host distinguished speakers who enriched our discussion: mag. Tina Žumer, Vice Governor of the Bank of Slovenia; Dejan Goljuf, CFA, Bank of Slovenia; Gašper Dovč, Triglav Skladi; James Gloak and Elodie Houalla, BlackRock. The event concluded with the panel discussion on "Risk and Opportunities of Integrating Sustainability Factors into Investment Decisions", moderated by Andrej Petek, CFA, Triglav Skladi. The panellists included Tadej Mendiževec, CFA, CAIA, Sava Re; Silva Deželan, PhD, Forbion, Polona Močilnik, SID banka and Sašo Šmigić, CFA, Generali Investments.






Forecast Dinner 2024

On January 18th, we organized the 8th edition of the Forecast Dinner. The event was held in Ljubljana at the Radisson Blu Plaza hotel. 

Marco Valli (UniCredit bank) provided comprehensive insight into macroeconomic policies, followed by the discussion about geopolitical risks with guests: prof. dr. Igor Lončarski (Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana), Boštjan Usenik (Častnik Finance) and Sašo Ivanović (Triglav Skladi). Panel was moderated by Matija Filiplič, CFA. We looked into the previous year's forecasts and announced the most accurate predictors: Marko Filipčič, CFA, Jaka Kirn, CFA, and Alenka Gedrih. Congratulations!






Charter Award Ceremony

On November 30th, CFA Society Slovenia hosted the annual Charter Award Ceremony. Our guest, prof. dr. Tomaž Turk, Dean at the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business, congratulated new Charterholders who attended the event. This year we accepted 8 new Charterholders to CFA Society Slovenia.







Conference "Asset Allocation Outlook"

On September 26th, 2023, the half-day conference "Asset Allocation Outlook" took place. The main focus of the event was on the current situation on the capital markets and their impact on investment allocation. In the opening presentation, a representative of Invesco, Mr. Paul Jackson, presented his view on inflation, central bank policies and the macroeconomic situation, as well as the impact on asset allocation. In subsequent lectures, the outlook on the stock, bond and private equity markets were presented. This was followed by a panel discussion, where representatives of major investors, such as insurance companies, banks, real estate funds and private equity, revealed where and how these institutions allocate their assets.







Ethics in finance

On April 5th, 2023, we organized the event about Ethics and ethical behaviour in finance. After the "Walk through the history of ethics principles" presented by our member Kruno Abramovič, CFA, the panel about Ethical behaviour in the financial markets was moderated by Andrej Petek, CFA and joined by speakers: Žiga Kosi (Slovenian Securities Market Agency), Aleš Ipavec (Ljubljana Stock Exchange) and Gašper Peklaj (Triglav Skladi). After the official part, the event continued at the 12th floor of iconic Nebotičnik building.





Research Challenge

On March 1st, 2023, we organized the local finals of the CFA Research Challenge 2022/2023 competition. There teams of students from two faculties (one from Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana and two from Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Maribor) presented a valuation report of Cinkarna Celje's share. The judges asked them questions related to the analysis. The winning team from University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics, advanced to the next round of the competition.

Forecast Dinner

On January 11th, 2023, we organized the 7th consecutive annual Forecast Dinner. The event was held in Ljubljana at the Radisson Blu Plaza hotel.

Matej Pirnat from Holding slovenske elektrarne d.o.o. presented the current situation on the energy market, followed by “Real estate in Slovenia” panel with guests Ajda Kaluža (Arvio d.o.o.), Matej Runjak (Trigal d.o.o.), Maja Ostanek, MRICS (Alfi RE d.o.o.) and Simon Kavka, MRICS (NAI significa d.o.o.). We looked into the previous year's forecast and announced the most accurate predictors: Rok Potočnik, CFA, Gorazd Belavič, CFA, Bojan Ivanc, CFA, CAIA and Matjaž Dlesk, CFA.
