Theo Vermaelen is Professor of Finance at INSEAD where he teaches in MBA, PhD and Executive programmes, directing the Advanced International Corporate Finance programme. He is a graduate from the Department of Applied Economics at the Catholic University of Leuven (Commercial Engineer) and obtained an MBA and PhD in Finance from the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago
Simona Abis, INSEAD
Simona Abis is a PhD candidate in Finance at INSEAD and will be joining Columbia Business School as an Assistant Professor. Before joining the PhD program Simona worked as a quantitative researcher for a systematic hedge fund.
Simona's research focuses on the impact of technology on financial markets. Her current projects focus specifically on the impact of technological change on investment management through the rise of quantitative investment. She has recently been awarded the AQR Top Finance Graduate Award 2017 for her research on quantitative investment management in the mutual funds industry.
Frédéric Surry, Deputy Head of Equities, BNP Paribas Asset Management
Frédéric has responsibility for the equity and convertible bond portfolio management teams. Frédéric has a total of 23 years of experience in financial markets, 18 of them in the asset management industry. He joined BNP Paribas Investment Partners in 2006 as head of Investment and Business Solutions (IBS). Before joining BNP Paribas Investment Partners, Frédéric worked for Credit Agricole Asset Management and Credit Lyonnais Asset Management as head of business development in the asset allocation and arbitrage department of Credit Agricole Asset Management. He began his career as a financial engineer specialising in capital market equity derivatives. Subsequently, he became cross-asset fund manager and then head of the cross-asset team. Frédéric earned a Masters degree in Capital Markets and Financial Mathematics and a Bachelors degree in Economy and Statistics from the university of Toulouse.

Marlene Konqui leads the ETF Research Academy, working with global academics to further ETF understanding and use. Her work has focused on fund evaluation - including an annual study on Active vs. Passive performance, analyzing over 4000 funds . In 2013 she coauthored a report on the "Efficiency indicator".
Before joining Lyxor in 2009, she worked in equity derivative research at Exane-BNP Paribas, Oddo&Cie and Kepler Equities.
Marlene holds a Post Masters in Finance from Université Paris Dauphine and is a member of the SFAF (Société Française des Analystes Financiers).

Philippe Maupas, CFA, is a consultant specialised in investment products at Alpha Beta Consulting and actively blogs in French at www.alphabetablog.com. He is a co-founding partner of Quantalys, a provider of web-based fund portfolio construction tools. He was a director for CFA Society France during 7 years, of which 3 as president, and is still actively involved with CFA Institute (as a member of the Disciplinary Review Committee and of the Society Brand Council, and as a judge at the EMEA Final of the Research Challenge). He is a graduate of HEC Business School and holds the CAIA, CIPM and AMF designations.
