Beyond the dollar: the future of money and reserves

    Feb 26, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (ET)
The US dollar remains the cornerstone of global finance, but its dominance is increasingly under pressure. Forces such as de-dollarization, evolving central bank reserve strategies, and the rise of digital currencies are challenging the traditional monetary order. At the same time, inflation, rising debt levels, and geopolitical realignment are straining fiat systems, while central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), stablecoins, and decentralized finance introduce new dynamics into the global currency landscape. This session convenes leading managers and allocators to examine the future of money and reserves, as well as the portfolio implications for institutional investors navigating a shifting global monetary system.

    Mar 3, 06:30 PM - 10:00 PM (CET)
We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming evening conference, dedicated to Emerging Markets Debt (EMD), where we will discuss the current market opportunities. Investing in EM debt offers the potential for higher yields, diversification, and capital appreciation, supported by resilient growth, improving fundamentals and a favourable global environment. While investors should remain mindful of risks such as political volatility, currency fluctuations and global market dynamics, EM debt has also demonstrated remarkable resilience over time. We therefore believe that investors should consider a strategic allocation to emerging market (EM) debt as part of a diversified portfolio. Our guest speaker, Didier Lambert, Head of Emerging Market Local Currency Debt at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, will walk you through the changing nature of this market and our outlook for the asset class. The CFA Institute Inclusion Code for Aotearoa New Zealand: Why It Matters for Our Profession

    Mar 4, 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM (NZST)
An exclusive lunch session for CFA Society members introducing the CFA Institute Inclusion Code for Aotearoa New Zealand, as part of UK-based Sarah Maynard’s visit to New Zealand. The Inclusion Code is designed to support better investment and organisational outcomes by embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion into everyday practice—not as a compliance exercise, but as a leadership and decision-making framework. We are interested to share this with our members, seek your feedback, and understand the difference it could make. The briefing will be led by Sarah Maynard, Global Senior Head of Inclusion at CFA Institute and representatives from CFA Society New Zealand, who will share international evidence on how inclusion strengthens talent management, investment decision-making, risk oversight, and long-term performance, and why this matters for the future of our profession in New Zealand. About the Code The Inclusion Code is a framework designed to help organisations embed diversity, equity, and inclusion into their culture and practices. It supports ethical leadership, professional excellence, and measurable progress, and becoming a signatory can position organisations as leaders in creating a more inclusive investment and financial services industry in New Zealand.
