Registration for CFA Society Calgary's 
43rd Annual Forecast Dinner is now open!

The Annual Forecast Dinner has been a CFA Society Calgary tradition since 1977 and is the premier event hosted by the Society. The audience for this event is drawn primarily from both CFA Charterholders and the broader professional community in Calgary. Past attendance levels have been 1,000 to 1,400 people, including significant representatives from the elite in Calgary's finance and business communities. Calgary's Annual Forecast Dinner continues to be one of the most successful events of its kind, and is the largest Forecast Dinner in North America.


Members, associates, and leaders from the business and investment communities gather to hear prominent members from the financial world speak, and to honour the achievements of CFA Society Calgary members, including the Volunteer of the Year and Forecaster of the Year awards. The Society is committed to ensuring the Forecast Dinner remains a leading event Calgary's professional community.

​Frances Horodelski, CFA

Capital Markets Experience, Investment Blogger

Frances Horodelski has had extensive experience in the capital markets including 25 years in a variety of increasingly senior positions at two of Canada's major investment dealers – RBC Dominion Securities and ScotiaMcLeod.  These experiences crossed various aspects of the investment world including derivative analysis (preferred shares, warrants), equity analysis, portfolio strategy, investment banking and managing the portfolio advisory groups at both firms.  She holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).  She was one of only a handful of women to sit on the board of directors at RBC Dominion Securities in the 1990s.  She later adapted her investment knowledge into a second career as journalist/anchor for the top-rated TV show on BNN "Business Day AM" as well as authoring morning note, one of the most popular pieces of market commentary in the country.  She continues to be actively involved in the capital markets including serving as a member of the Independent Review Committee for one of Canada's largest mutual fund company and writes a daily investment blog.

Morgan Housel is a partner at The Collaborative Fund and a former columnist at The Motley Fool and The Wall Street Journal. He is a two-time winner of the Best in Business award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, the New York Times Sidney Award, a two-time finalist for the Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism, and the Columbia Journalism Review for the Best Business Writing 2012 anthology. In 2013 he was a finalist for the Scripps Howard Award.
