Richard McGillivray
I currently work for CFA Institute based in Hong Kong where I am a Senior Director in the Education Team, focused on Product Advocacy and Education.
I joined CFA Institute to lead its Asia Pacific Institutional Partnerships team in 2013, working with firms, regulators, and universities across the region. My background is a blend of experience in formal and professional education and investment management. Prior to joining CFA Institute, I set up and ran the Asia Pacific operations for a UK-headquartered asset management business in Hong Kong.
I have focused extensively on sustainability and sustainability-related practice since 2018, most recently focused on Climate-related risk and valuation. In 2020, I co-developed the Sustainable Investing Gameshow with Paul Milon at BNP Paribas Asset Management which won UK Investment Week's 2020 award for Best Sustainable & ESG Education.
Before starting my move into Finance in 2007 I worked for 16 years in both formal and adult professional education in Asia Pacific and southern Africa. As an educator I have served a range of sectors, including schools, universities, financial services organisations, government, NGOs, law and media.
My other-than-family-and-work passion is cycling, a life-long pursuit from the time I mastered my first two-wheeler. Of its many forms, I like self-supported touring the most, and since my first ride in 1993 I have been fortunate to do rides in South Africa, greater China, India and the United States.
