Event Description

Asset-backed securities (ABS), or at least part of this asset class, were one of the financial instruments that were blamed for creating the 2007 crisis.​ We look into what has been learned since.

Speaker

Michel Fryszman, Head of BNPP AM's Structured Finance team. ​

Michel's professional experience spans mortgage finance, asset management and securitisation. He joined BNPP AM in January 2018, having previously been Head of Mortgages and Specialty Finance at AXA Investment Managers since 2014. He joined AXA IM in 2005 and created a fund investing in ABS junior pieces, subsequently becoming head of ABS Investments in 2008, responsible for Europe and the USA.

He began his career as a derivatives and interest rate portfolio manager at Crédit Foncier where he subsequently served as Assistant Deputy Governor, first in charge of finance, then credit and risks.

From 1996 to 2001 Michel was CEO of Crédit Foncier's licensed asset management division. Michel has also been a consultant to the World Bank on securitization.


Bastien Rospopoff, Deputy Head of the expertise team at AMF's Asset Management Directorate

Bastien Rosspopoff, is deputy head of the expertise team within the asset management directorate of AMF.
 
He graduated as an engineer from the l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint Etienne and as an actuary from the Institut de Sciences Financières et d'Assurance.
 
He began his career in 2012 as insurance supervisor within the ACPR. He notably contributed to grant the approval of the first internal model of insurers within the Solvency 2 regulation.
 
In 2015, he joins the on-site inspection team of asset managers of AMF. Bastien's professional experience spans finance, insurance and is oriented toward complex risk management and risk transfer mechanism such as securitization.
