Murphree and Company
Dennis is the CEO of Murphree and Company Inc. which is a commercial real estate development firm headquartered in Houston, Texas. After receiving a B.A. in Economics from Southern Methodist University, he served with the U.S. Air Force. He then graduated with an MBA from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania. In May 1971, he began his real estate career as a commercial broker and started his own firm in December, 1972. He has been an entrepreneur since that time running his own companies.
In addition to his business and teaching activities, he has served on many corporate, charitable, educational and civic boards since 1971. He is currently on the boards of Space Center Houston and The Admiral Nimitz Foundation in Fredericksburg. Some other boards have been: Southern Methodist University (Dallas); the Johns Hopkins Nitze School and the Sadat Peace Foundation (both in Washington DC); the American Ballet Theater (New York City); Houston Public Media (former chairman); Texas A&M University-Galveston (former chairman); the Alley Theater; Houston Symphony, among others. Dennis is also a public speaker who gives motivational and business speeches on a regular schedule each year,
He and his wife, Penny, live in Houston and have two children and two grandsons that occupy a primary focus in their lives.
