Outline
After the ESG way of investing become a "new normal" in public but also private Equity space, the investors turn increasingly their interests toward Fixed Income. As one of the oldest banks and first runner in Responsible Investment field in Nordic region, Mr. Henrik Stille from Nordea Asset Management would like to share with you their expertise and also bring up a relatively unknown asset class: European Covered Bonds.
Covered bonds are debt instruments secured by a cover pool of mortgage loans (property as collateral) or public-sector debt to which investors have a preferential claim in the event of default. Under the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD), covered bonds are exempted from bail-in (unlike e.g. senior bonds).
Solution for Fixed Income Investors:
1- There is much more potential than the effective yield to spot on where most investors put their focus and those yields rights are often in even negative territory.
2- Identifying ESG factors that potentially could have an impact on spread levels in combination with active management of the less known hidden treasure,
European Covered Bonds asset class, give to FI investors so much desired positive and risk/reward attractive returns.
