Teri Richardson joined Advanced Capital Group in 2014. Previously she served as the Assistant Executive Director of the Minnesota State Board of Investment. Prior to joining the State Board of Investment in December 2008, Ms. Richardson was the Director, Cash and Pension Investments for Northwest Airlines where she was responsible for the management of more than $10 billion of pension fund assets and $3 billion of corporate cash. Ms. Richardson also has experience in corporate finance and as a consultant for an actuarial consulting firm.
Ms. Richardson has a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Minnesota, and an M.B.A in Finance from the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota, and has earned a CFA designation.
Sheila was previously a Senior Consultant with NEPC, LLC, a national investment consulting firm. She has over twenty years of broadly based investment experience in non-profit healthcare, corporate pensions and family offices. In support of her client relationships, Sheila is responsible for overall portfolio design, including asset allocation and investment policy development, risk budgeting, liquidity analysis, evaluation and selection of investment managers, and performance monitoring. She is a member of the Alternative Assets Due Diligence Committee.
Prior to NEPC, Sheila was CIO at WLD Enterprises, Inc. a family office of multiple generations. Sheila was accountable for the strategic asset allocation of the trusts and individual accounts, and oversaw the investment team, which was responsible for investments in all asset classes including hedge funds, private equity and real estate.
Prior to WLD, Sheila was Manager, Benefit Funds Investment at 3M Company. At 3M, Sheila developed and maintained asset allocation, and conducted investment manager searches and due diligence for the company's $10.5 billion US pension plan assets and the $1.5 billion VEBA Trust funds. She also acted as consultant to the 3M 401k plan and to the 3M benefit plans outside the U.S.
Prior to her experience at 3M she served as Director, Cash & Investment for Allina Health System (now known as Allina Health), where she was responsible for the operating assets and retirement plan assets as well as other treasury functions. She also served as the Manager of External Fixed Income assets at the Minnesota State Board of Investment and began her investment career with American Express Financial Advisors.
Sheila earned her M.B.A. in Finance from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis and a B.A. in English with a minor in Business from Marquette University. Sheila has been an active community volunteer and currently sits on the investment committee of The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. She is a recipient of the Minneapolis /St. Paul Business Journal's Women in Business Award, and Institutional Investor's Award for Excellence in Investment Management.
