As part of the Putting Investors First initiative, the CFA Society Ottawa will host a luncheon on April 26 featuring Emil Vassenine who will discuss best practices in performance reporting. The CFA Institute and CFA societies worldwide participate in the Putting Investors First campaign each year. The objective of Putting Investors First is to build awareness of the duty to protect investor interests and to ensure that all investment professionals understand their primary role is to serve and protect investors.
Regulators and investors around the world scrutinize performance reporting more closely in the post-Madoff era. PMs are expected to comply not only with the letter of the law, but also its spirit; as a result, most Firms are turning to the CFA Institute's Global Investment Performance Standards for guidance.
We will review the principles of performance reporting and marketing, from basics through best practices, and will provide examples of high profile cases and recommendations from regulators. We will also review the future of GIPS and provide guidance to fast and efficient compliance with industry best practices.
