Christopher Battifarano, CFA, CAIA
Executive Vice President, Chief Investment Officer, Finemark, National Bank and Trust

Christopher Battifarano is an Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at FineMark National Bank & Trust. Mr. Battifarano is responsible for the investment process and philosophy at FineMark, while leading the company’s strategic and tactical investment recommendations. He is based in FineMark’s Palm Beach office.
Mr. Battifarano brings 20 years of experience to FineMark. Most recently he was Director of Research for Genspring Family Offices/SunTrust Bank in Jupiter, Florida. Prior to that, Mr. Battifarano was Chief Investment Officer for another family office in Palm Beach.
Mr. Battifarano is a holder of both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations. He received his M.B.A. and B.B.A. from the University of Miami. Battifarano is also a member of CFA Society South Florida.
Garrett D. Goggin, CFA, CMT
Associate Editor, Gold Stock Analyst
Garrett D. Goggin has served as GSA Associate Editor since 2010. He began his financial career on the floor of the NYSE market working for a local brokerage as a clerk where he learned how investment transactions are processed. As Mr. Goggin saw much of the order flow was moving off-floor he joined a derivative arbitrage group in the United Kingdom and Ireland during the advent of electronic trading and the rise of the Eurex. Mr. Goggin next set up Vox Capital Investment Advisor in order to protect client assets from an overleveraged economy with a focus on alternative asset classes. Garrett acted as equity portfolio manager of the Babson College Fund as well as served as president of the Babson Investment Managers Association during his time as MBA student.
Garrett is a CFA Charter holder (Chartered Financial Analyst) and a CMT (Certified Market Technician). He serves on the board of CFA Society South Florida as treasurer. Mr. Goggin holds MS and MBA business degrees in Finance from Babson College.
Tom Krasner, CFA
Co-Founder and Principal, Concise Capital Management, LP
Tom Krasner, CFA has spent over 25 years in fixed income, distressed debt and high yield bonds. He has extensive experience in corporate restructurings, credit analysis, portfolio management, and workouts. Prior to co-founding Concise Capital with Mr. Koach, Mr. Krasner was Executive VP at Harch Capital Management, responsible for restructuring high yield bonds and bank loans. Previously, Mr. Krasner was a Principal and Portfolio Manager at Riverside Capital Advisers, co-managing the short-term high yield portfolio with Mr. Koach. Mr. Krasner began his career at John Alden Asset Management, a $4 billion life insurance company, where he ran a $250 million private placement portfolio. Mr. Krasner holds a B.A. in Economics, English and Mathematical Sciences and a M.A. in Economics from Rice University. From 1996 to 1998 he was President of the CFA Society Miami. He has served on the boards of Birch Telecom, Doe Run Resources, FWT, Institutional Deposits Corporation, Nutritek, Sterling Chemicals, and Trism.
Ali Motamed, CFA
Managing Partner – Invenomic Capital
Ali Motamed is the Managing Partner of Invenomic Capital Management, the Sub-adviser to the Balter Invenomic Fund. Prior to founding Invenomic, Ali was Co-Portfolio manager of the Boston Partners Long/Short Equity Fund. He was awarded Portfolio Manager of the Year in the Alternatives Category by Morningstar in 2014. Prior to joining Boston Partners, he was a member of the global mergers and acquisitions teams at Deutsche Bank and BT Wolfensohn. Mr. Motamed holds a B.A. degree in economics with a minor in accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He has 17 years experience.
