Our Society is part of the worldwide network of member societies of CFA Institute, the global, not-for-profit association of investment professionals, that awards the CFA® and CIPM® designations.
CFA Society Spain’s purpose is to build a better investment profession by serving the public interest by educating investment professionals, by promoting and enforcing the ethical and professional standards and explaining what is happening in the profession to regulators, policy-makers and the media. As a Society in the service of its members, we promote the development of careers in the investment profession and facilitate networking.
Our members work across the investment profession. While the most common roles for members are portfolio manager and research analyst, members occupy a wide variety of positions and work for many different types of firms and government regulatory bodies. Their common characteristic is a determination to practice and uphold the highest level of professional and ethical standards.
We are the awarding body for the Certified Advisor- CAd, which meets the CNMV regulations relating to EU Directive MiFID II guidelines for investment advisory services.
CFA Society Spain also promotes the CFA® Program, the CIPM® Progam and the Investment Foundations® Program for which CFA Institute is the awarding body. Additionally, CFA Society Spain promotes the Certificate in ESG Investing awarded by CFA Institute.
In 1997, a group of CFA® Charterholders in Spain founded SAIP, the Spanish Association of Investment Professionals, under the auspices of AIMR, the Association for Investment Management and Research, the predecessor organization to the CFA Institute. SAIP changed its name to CFA Society Spain in alignment with the name change of AIMR to CFA Institute.
