Board Members

Andrew D Murphy, CFA – President
Andrew is a Portfolio Manager at Broadlake Financial, as well as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer.  Prior to joining Broadlake in 2005, Andrew had internships with MBF Clearing Corp on the New York Mercantile Exchange, and with Alfa Capital in Moscow, Russia. A native Vermonter, Andrew grew up in Berlin and graduated from the University of Vermont with a BA in Economics. He lives in Essex with his wife, Cindy. When not tinkering on house projects, you will likely see Andrew coaching or playing basketball, tennis, or ultimate frisbee. Andrew received his CFA Charter in 2010, and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Vermont.

Dr. Fritz Burkhardt, CFA – Vice President
Fritz Burkhardt is a Professor of Finance at Champlain College. He has taught finance classes at Northwestern University, University of Notre Dame and Champlain College. He worked as a research analyst covering Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union for Bank Austria Creditanstalt and as an investment banker in mergers and acquisitions for Merrill Lynch. He also sits on the Board of the Vermont Educational & Health Buildings Financial Agency. Fritz holds a PhD in Finance from Northwestern University, an MBA with High Honors from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, and a B.A. from Middlebury College in Economics and Russian and East European Studies with Honors.

Josh Kruk, CFA, CPA – Treasurer

Josh is a Financial Advisor at One Day In July. He joined there in 2019 after a stint as Head of Liquid Markets for Sentinel Investments, the investment arm of National Life Group. Prior to that, Josh spent six years as a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he led the stable value portfolio management team.  Josh also spent 12 years in a variety of roles with the investment team at Dwight Asset Management, the most recent of which was Head of Portfolio Management. Josh started his career in Boston performing financial statement audits of mutual funds, hedge funds and private equity portfolios for Price Waterhouse LLP before moving to the Finance team at Bain Capital, Inc.  Josh earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Vermont.

Nick Foss ​– Secretary
Nick Foss is the director of finance at Green Mountain Transit. He was born and raised in the city of St. Albans, Vermont where he attended the local high school of Bellows Free Academy. In 2014, Nick graduated from Champlain College’s Stiller School of Business with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting, and a Minor in Finance. Shortly after graduation Nick began his career at the Vermont State Treasurer’s Office, working on the Investments Staff helping to oversee the roughly $4 billion of retirement assets that the Treasurer’s Office is a fiduciary to. In 2016, Nick was offered a position with the State of Vermont’s Department of Finance & Management, where he served in the State Budget Office division helping to manage the development of the annual state-wide budget. After four years in state government, Nick decided to accept a position in the private sector, where he worked at a local investment firm until accepting his current position at GMT. In his spare time, Nick enjoys operating his small food cart business Yak it to Me! and spending time with his teenage daughter Emma.
