CFA Society Vermont is always looking volunteers to expand our initiatives​ and outreach. Whatever your skill is, we have a spot for you to lend a hand. ​More opportunities will be added so check back.

​Secretary

T​he secretary is responsible for maintaining all meeting-related minutes and documentation for board and member distribution.

​2 years. Monthly committee meetings (1 hour), 4-6 hours of prep work a month outside of committee meetings

​Program Chair

​The program chair/committee member is responsible for all society member events, including speakers, social events, and other special events (such as forecast dinners and charter recognition events). Programs should add member value by providing continuing education, networking, and career opportunities as well as being a recruitment tool for new members.

​2 years. Monthly committee meetings (1 hour), 4-6 hours of prep work a month outside of committee meetings

​Membership Chair

​The objective of the membership chair/committee member is to promote the advantages and benefits of membership, to assist potential members through the application process, to respond to membership inquiries, and to manage existing memberships. The chair/committee member can also be responsible for promoting membership participation in society programs and events.​

​2 years. Monthly committee meetings (1 hour), 4-6 hours of prep work a month outside of committee meetings

​Technology Chair

​The technology chair/committee is responsible for initiating, maintaining, and promoting various technologies used by the society in its daily activities, including periodic review of new technologies and integration of new offerings from CFA Institute. The chair/committee makes recommendations to the board and submits an annual budget proposal for changes and upgrades.​

​Career Service Chair

​The career services chair is responsible for establishing networking channels, developing career resources for members, and reporting regularly to the society on career services programming.

​RESEARCH CHALLENGE​

​Industry Mentor

The primary responsibility of the Industry Mentor is to impact a "real-world" industry perspective into the students' theoretical knowledge base. Industry Mentors should not be responsible for teaching students how to perform specific analysis. They will review the team's written work and presentation. They will provide comments on. Mentors will not ​​perform any research, write any portion of the work, or contact the subject company, or any of its affiliates, distributors, suppliers or competitors within context of the Research Challenge.

​​Not to exceed 6 hours. Via phone calls, emails, in-person meetings, and any additional contact. Should the team advance to the regional or global level an additional 2 hours may be required per round.​

Faculty Adviser

​The Faculty Adviser serves as the primary adviser to the student teams, runs the team selection process, and serves as the university contact with the host of the CFA Institute Research Challenge. They will review the team's written work and presentation, providing comments only.​

​Not to exceed 10 hours. Via phone calls, emails, in-person meetings, and any additional contact. Should the team advance to the regional or global level an additional 3 hours may be required per round.

R​​epo​rt ​Grader

​The Graders review reports and score them according to a predetermined point system. They should provide as much feedback as possible to assist​ teams who may advance to the further​ competitions. 

​Approximately 2 Hours

​Judge

​​Judges view the presentations as a sell-side presentation either to the buy side or to a director of research listing to and critiquing a member of his/her team. The student teams will present for ten minutes and judges will hold all questions to the end.

​2-3 Hours on the day of the Research Challenge
