We are deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Shirley Ogden, CFA, CPA, a remarkable volunteer leader whose service to CFA Institute for many, many years leaves a lasting legacy.

Shirley led with integrity and purpose. She gave generously of her time and expertise: as a Research Challenge mentor and judge, as a board member and president of CFA Society Dallas/Fort Worth, as chair of CFA Societies Texas, and as Presidents Council Representative (PCR) for the Central and Southwest US.

In every role, Shirley brought powerful strength and wisdom to our network. She built connections between societies, amplified the voice of the volunteer, and fostered relationships that helped us better serve our members and the public. She always sought to lift up others, focusing on collaboration and community.

A proud Texas resident, she advocated for investors and for the financial services industry in the region. She worked with CFA Societies Texas to convene conversations with FINRA and the SEC, elevating the voice of the professional. As PCR, Shirley was a steady and thoughtful presence. She believed in listening deeply, in sharing ideas openly, and in bringing people together to solve challenges. Shirley’s volunteerism extended far beyond the CFA Society network, including offering her professional expertise to non-profits in Plano, Texas to help manage investment opportunities.

Above all, Shirley believed in the mission at CFA Institute. She lived the values and set an enduring example of what it means to lead with professionalism and heart. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
