CFA Institute Research Challenge Local Finals 2023/2024 took place on 29th of February, with the subject company Port of Koper (Luka Koper). Sincere congratulations go to the winning team from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics: Angela Zdravkovska, Barbara Teodorovic, Peter Kranjec and Vito Ljubec with their faculty adviser Denis Marinšek, PhD, CFA and industry mentor Primož Rozman, FCCA.
At the Local Finals, three teams from two Slovenian Universities presented their valuation of Luka Koper's shares. Panel of local judges: Olivier P. Müller, CFA, CAIA, FRM, Blaž Hribar, CFA and Andrej Petek, CFA, evaluated their presentation and asked them for feedback on several aspects of valuation. The winning team, determined by the highest combined score from the report and presentation, advanced to the next round of competition.
Grading of written reports was conducted by Sašo Stanovnik, Gorazd Belavic, CFA, and Lan Filipic, CFA. Bojan Ivanc, CFA, CAIA, was the local coordinator of this project. We also appreciate the support of Luka Koper's representatives (Gorazd Jamnik, Tea Vatovec, Dare Dolenc, Rok Štemberger) for explaining their investment case to students.
We thank our volunteers (industry mentors, graders, judges, local coordinator) for committing their valuable time for this project.
