Michael J. Tokich, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of STERIS plc.
As Chief Financial Officer, Michael has primary responsibility for; Financial Reporting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Investor Relations, Information Technology, Internal Audit, Business Development, Strategic Planning, Operations Finance, Tax, Treasury, Risk Management, Regulatory Affairs, Quality and Regulatory Compliance, Facilities, Communications, Government Relations and Health Safety and Environmental. Michael joined STERIS in May 2000 as Assistant Corporate Controller and became Vice President, Corporate Controller in December 2000. He became Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in March 2008 after serving as interim Chief Financial Officer since December 2006. Michael also assumed the role of Treasurer from February 2014 through July 2017 and was the company’s Chief Accounting Officer from December 2006 through October 2016 in addition to his other responsibilities.
Since joining STERIS, Michael has played a key role in significantly strengthening the company’s balance sheet, improving the company’s free cash flow generation and enhancing shareholder value. In addition, he has streamlined the financial reporting processes and procedures through increased automation, policy deployment and oversight. He has been instrumental in overseeing the growth of the company via acquisitions and fostered the re-domiciliation of the company to the United Kingdom after the combination of the $2.3 billion acquisition of Synergy Health plc. in November 2015. In March 2019, STERIS re-domiciled to Ireland to preserve the current and future benefits initially established in 2015 at the time of the combination with Synergy Health plc.
Prior to joining STERIS, Michael served as Divisional Vice President, Assistant Controller of OfficeMax Inc., a leading global office supply retailer. In this position, he was responsible for internal and external financial reporting including SEC reporting and the coordination of annual audits. His responsibilities also included planning and analysis for over 950 stores, delivery centers and corporate operations.
Michael’s extensive experience in a senior leadership position of a publicly-traded company, in a highly regulated industry, will provide valuable insight in a Governance or Audit Committee role serving in the capacity of a Board Director.
