Webinar - Recessions, Elections, Where to Invest before 2025

    Oct 15, 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM (ET)
Will the "rolling recessions" lead to a prosperous repeat of a 1990s bull market? Or will the economy roll over fully to a 1930s-era collapse? What economic and geopolitical policies change with the US elections (and the two most important abroad)… how will they dramatically impact your investments? Investors are facing a pivotal moment in both asset allocation and alpha-creating stock opportunities.   Please join CFA Society Boston and Professor Joel Litman of Altimetry Financial for an engaging discussion that recent audiences have given the highest marks. At this event, Professor Litman shares some of the most compelling macroeconomic research from his work inside the Pentagon. Which firms will win and lose in the new political and economic era? A highlight of the event is the use of real, live company analysis in real-time from an all-cap database of the U.S. stock market under Uniform Financial & Accounting (UAFRS). He shares the analytics used by 40,000 investors. In this exclusive event for CFA Society Boston members and affiliates, Professor Litman draws from decades of research, aiming to provide you with new insights from the top research organizations in a variety of fields, and extremely practical actions for your investing strategy.   About the Speaker Professor Joel Litman is the Founder and CIO of Altimetry Financial and Chairman and CEO of Valens Research. Professor Litman has lectured and advised at top programs like Harvard Business School and London Business School, for various branches of the U.S. government, CFA Societies, and investment teams from New York to Frankfurt to Beijing, and for the leadership of the world's consulting firms including EY and PwC. He published the now famous, "Give My Regrets to Wall Street" in Harvard Business Review and co-authored the highly-acclaimed, "DRIVEN: Business Strategy, Human Actions, and the Creation of Wealth." As Chairman of the UAFRS Council, Professor Litman has spearheaded the global use of Uniform Accounting for investment decisions and strategic business analysis. Education Luncheon | Decision Economics

    Nov 7, 12:00 PM - 01:30 PM (ET)
Decision Economics: A behaviorally informed framework for investment decision making Can you separate ‘what you think’ from ‘how you feel’ when making investment recommendations? It’s more difficult than you might think – after all we’re humans, not robots. But, it is critical to driving success in money management. Why? Because in the investment domain, probabilities matter more than our preferences. The combination of fees and unforced errors due to behavioral mistakes can make it challenging to meet return objectives. Decision Economics examines 5 five key areas of the investment decision process where behavioral mistakes cluster and opportunities to deliver incremental return are most abundant. The program provides you with a probability-based framework of five best practices that will enable you to create a definable, defendable and repeatable investment decision process which is critical in a heightened regulatory environment. In an age of commoditized advice, Decision Economics can help you differentiate yourself from the competition. Learning Objective Gain an understanding of the 5 “decision traps” where behavioral mistakes cluster and opportunities for incremental return are greatest. Learn 5 “best practices” to help you avoid the decision traps and behavioral mistakes and recognize opportunities to capitalize on them. Understand how to build and scale a definable, repeatable investment decision process using a probability-based framework.
