📆 This week, the CFA Society Liechtenstein hosted its prestigious Annual Forecast Dinner in Vaduz, an event that brought together the brightest minds in finance. We were honored to have Joe Prendergast from Goodbody as our keynote speaker. His presentation, titled "Macro Resilience and the Allure of Cash, is resistance futile?" provided invaluable insights into the current macroeconomic landscape.
🔍 Joe’s analysis highlighted a myriad of political and economic dangers which coincide with heightened risk of financial market volatility in 2024. Cash rates are currently attractive, but pockets of volatility around political events this year could be an opportunity to deploy cash to global equities, which are still reasonably valued. He still maintains a cautiously optimistic long-term outlook for well diversified portfolios. Joe emphasized disciplined use of asset allocation in wealth management, where balancing growth with capital preservation is critical.
🎖️ Finally, the accolades rained down as the CFA Society Liechtenstein crowned Dario Cathomen, CFA, Christoph Boner, and Reto Jost as the triumphant victors of the previous year's forecast competition - a testament to their financial foresight. We are already curious to see who has guessed the markets correctly this year!
