Thank you for showing interest in our volunteer opportunities. As a professional membership organization, volunteers help us achieve our broadening goals and to carry out our mission. Our strategic initiatives span 3 key pillars: Member Value, Member & Candidate Engagement, and Advocacy & Community Outreach. These are outlined below and if you find an area that suits your interests, please let us know.
Member Value
- Working with the Program Committee to evaluate and prioritize topics, pursue high quality presenters, and execute programs; create opportunities for member interaction/socialization at events
- Average commitment is one to four hours per month (to include committee meetings)
Example: If you believe you could help to secure a speaker (s) on a topic of import to our Society, you could volunteer to spearhead a monthly lunch or virtual event.
Member & Candidate Engagement
- Working with the Membership & Candidate Services Committee to attract and support CFA program candidates
- Average commitment is one to two hours per month (to include committee meetings)
Examples: Help with membership renewal and help plan networking events for member and candidate engagement
Advocacy & Community Outreach
- Working with Advocacy & Community Outreach Committee to raise profile of Society and CFA program with employers (some overlap with Membership & Candidate engagement committee)
- Average commitment is one to two hours per month (to include committee meetings)
Examples: Being a liaison between the Society and key professors at your alma mater (if in Tennessee) to increase awareness of the CFA Program/message to their students and participate in a college or corporate presentations to introduce and discuss the CFA Program and help in the development and execution of outreach programs to local universities and firms.
Research Challenge
- Working with Greater Tennessee Research Challenge Committee to advance the shared mission in partnership with the CFA Institute
- Average commitment is one to two hours per month (to include committee meetings) beginning in the Summer and ending in February
- Other volunteer opportunities: mentor, grader, or judge
Financial Literacy Initiative
- Help to shape future financial literacy initiatives within the Society and community at large with our partner Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee
- Average commitment is one to three hours per month on an annual basis
