CFAP Sustainable Investing Thought Leadership Group Monthly Webinar: Do We Need a Green Impact Excha

    May 29, 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM (ET)
As we have discussed in past programs, there is no easy, reliable method for investors to ensure the companies they are supporting are actually delivering on their environmental and social promises. This disconnect has led to confusion in the marketplace and in extreme cases "greenwashing."  Is the solution to this problem the creation of a green impact exchange making it easier to find pro-ESG investments to add to your client’s green portfolios? Our panelists, Dan Labovitz, and Shelley Goldberg, will discuss the need for another exchange and whether investors will reward companies that list on a green impact exchange.  Our moderator for this panel, Sarah Friedman Hersh, is the Head of US/Enterprise ESG at Vanguard.  Dan Labovitz is the Co-Founder and CEO of the Green Impact Exchange (GIX). Prior to starting GIX, Dan worked in various positions at the New York Stock Exchange, where he was a senior regulatory attorney and ran the regulatory policy group responsible for market and trading rules. Dan has also served as a prosecutor for the Exchange, an independent regulatory monitor for the SEC and FINRA, and a consultant to broker-dealers, Fintech companies, and exchanges and trading venues for equities, options, and OTC derivatives. He earned his undergraduate and law degrees from New York University and has maintained his license to practice law in New York. Shelley Goldberg is the Chief Green Officer for GIX. She is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote environmental sustainability within the exchange's operations and among listed companies. Shelley managed her own energy fund, G3 Capital Partners, LLC, and ran the largest fund-of-funds devoted to natural resources with Swiss private bank, Union Bancaire Prive. She graduated from Tufts University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and Spanish, and received a Master of Business Administration from New York University Stern School of Business in finance and international business. The CFAP Sustainable Investing Thought Leadership Group provides a forum to advance the dialogue regarding the role of sustainable investing in today's capital markets and beyond. In particular, the group directs its attention to furthering an understanding and clarifying the risks and opportunities linked to environmental, social, and governance issues. If you have any questions regarding becoming part of the Sustainable Investing Thought Leadership Group, please contact CFAP member Michael Cosack at [email protected] .
