Asset Class or Allocation Trap: Making Sense of Digital Assets in 2026

When:  Jun 3, 2026 from 11:45 AM to 01:00 PM (CT)
Associated with  CFA Society Nashville

Digital assets are embedded in allocator agendas. Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have multi-year track records, stablecoins are a meaningful source of Treasury demand, and tokenization is advancing rapidly. Yet the harder questions remain: Does crypto deserve a strategic allocation, and how should investors size and underwrite an asset class with no cash flows and a return profile that defies conventional models?

Three panelists bring distinct vantage points: Juan Leon, CFA, Senior Investment Strategist at Bitwise Asset Management, a leading crypto-native asset manager; Loren Asmus, CFA, CAIA, Head of Investor Relations at UTXO Management and a former manager research lead at Canterbury Consulting ($52B AUA); and Dr. Timothy Darrah, Co-Founder and CEO of Mangrove AI, a former NASA Fellow and Vanderbilt adjunct professor building AI infrastructure for on-chain finance. Together, they will examine how an asset manager, a former institutional allocator, and a technologist frame the case for digital assets in serious portfolios in 2026.
