Grounds for Connection: Women in Investments

CFA Society Detroit and FPA Michigan invite you to a relaxed evening of networking, coffee education, and great company at Dessert Oasis in Ferndale . This isn’t your typical networking event — we’re pulling back the curtain on Dessert Oasis’ in-house roastery with a guided tour and walkthrough of how their coffee operation actually works, followed by a guided tasting featuring a few standout selections from their menu so you can experience the range firsthand. Pair that with sandwiches, pastries, and good conversation, and you’ve got an easy, low-pressure way to reconnect with fellow CFAD and FPA members — no agenda, no pitch, just community. This event is designed with women in finance in mind, and everyone is welcome to join us. Volunteer Opportunity: Life Remodeled

Join CFA Society Detroit for an afternoon of service with Life Remodeled, a Detroit-based nonprofit focused on neighborhood revitalization. Volunteers will support blight removal and beautification efforts alongside community members and corporate partners, helping create safer and more vibrant neighborhoods throughout Detroit. Participants will meet at Life Remodeled HQ before boarding shuttles to their assigned project site. Activities include mowing grass, trimming overgrown brush and weeds and picking up debris. Supplies will be provided. Following the volunteer activities, shuttles will return participants to HQ.   This is a great opportunity to give back to the Detroit community while connecting with the CFA Society Detroit community. The event is open to everyone. You do not need to be a CFA charterholder to participate, and members are encouraged to invite colleagues, friends, and family to join. "Manias in American CapEx Cycles: From Railroads to AI"

Join CFA Society Detroit in Windsor, Canada, on Tuesday, October 6, for an insightful look at what history’s greatest investment manias can teach us about today’s markets. Cole Smead will examine past investment manias including the Railway Mania of the 1880s, the Internet Mania, Drill Baby Drill of the 2010s and today’s AI Hyper-Scaling Mania. He will walk the audience through factors like stock returns, leverage, economic outcomes and the legacy of these capex cycles. Following the presentation, guests are invited to stay for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, providing an opportunity to continue the conversation and network with fellow investment professionals from both sides of the border.
