Meet the Awardees

Livingstone Ssegujja, CFA is a seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience in the energy and telecom sectors. Currently, he serves as the Commercial Manager at CNOOC Uganda Limited, overseeing commercialization and oil and gas economics. Previously, he revitalized the Budget & Reporting and Audit sections as Planning and Budgeting Manager at CNOOC. He also managed Financial Planning & Analysis at Vodafone Uganda. Livingstone holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance from Kyambogo University.

Wilbrod Ntawiha, CFA, a Charterholder and data science expert, has 10 years of experience leveraging data science and tools to deliver value. He is a financial analyst at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and formerly a data scientist at Development Initiatives. Wilbrod holds a master's in quantitative economics, a bachelor's in statistics, and certifications in Financial Modelling and Valuation (FMVA) and Business Intelligence and Data Analysis (BIDA). He is passionate about harnessing big data for sustainable financial solutions.

Arnold Jerome Opio Adupa, CFA, has extensive experience in finance, investment, and the energy sector. Currently, he is a Senior Commercial Analyst at the Uganda National Oil Company, providing commercial advisory and support for upstream oil and gas projects, including the Lake Albert Development project. Previously, he was a Finance Business Partner at ABSA Bank Uganda, overseeing performance analytics for Corporate and Investment Banking. Adupa holds a BSc in Petroleum Geosciences and Production and is a Certified Energy Risk Professional (ERP) with GARP.

Cliff Bakashaba, CFA, is the Senior Portfolio Manager at Jubilee Asset Management Limited, managing USD 1.0 billion in assets. With over ten years of experience in asset management, strategy development, and corporate finance, he previously held roles at Centum Investment Company Plc subsidiaries and Nabo Capital Limited. Cliff is a CFA Charterholder, pursuing an MBA at Strathmore Business School, and holds a First-Class Honours degree in Actuarial Science from Makerere University.

I have 7+ years of experience in the field of valuation, credit research, and institutional equity research. My journey commenced at Systematix Corporate Services Ltd, honing my skills in valuation, followed by a tenure at Citi Corp where I delved into credit research, and later, at Nirmal Bang, specializing in institutional equity research.
Currently, as a dedicated Investment and Financial Consultant at Euroflex Ltd, I am instrumental in sourcing the next round of funding for the company, leveraging my proficiency in deal negotiation, financial modelling, crafting information memorandum and Pitch book.
In my leisure time, I enjoy hiking with my friends and traveling that allows me to learn about different places and culture. I have deep inclination towards investment and to hone my skills I like to spend additional hour in performing in-dept research on the companies that add values to the portfolio. I also like to interact more often with the company’s management and industrial expert to enhance my industrial knowledge. I am also passionate about reading current affairs, investment and financial books. 

"Cindy Hannah Kukunda is a portfolio manager at ICEA LION Asset Management with over six years of experience specializing in trading financial assets and retirement planning. Helping her parents navigate their retirement ignited her passion for financial planning. She has since dedicated her career to helping families achieve their retirement dreams. She currently manages a $200 million portfolio invested in equities, government securities and fixed deposits.

Prior to joining ICEA LION, Cindy worked as a trader at Absa Bank Uganda trading in fixed income, foreign exchange and derivatives driving a track record of profitability. She facilitated client order flow by providing competitive pricing to the sales team. She traded with globally diverse trading teams executing an average annual volume of $100 million. When not advising clients, Cindy enjoys travel and dance."

Eliya is an economist/analyst working for the central bank in Tanzania. He has spent three years as an economist, primarily in the then International Economics Department where he used to compile the Balance of Payments, analyze economic interactions between different countries, and coordinate surveys for computing private capital flows or foreign private investment figures in Tanzania.
Currently, he is employed as an investment analyst in the middle office of the foreign reserves management team at the central bank of Tanzania. His duties entail managing risk, trade surveillance and support, and performance analysis among other things.
Eliya has goals of becoming a portfolio manager; devising appropriate investment strategies to grow asset owner’s portfolios. He is also keenly interested in developments in private markets, particularly, as it has seen much growth in the recent past.

Moses Kwesiga is a central banker with several years of experience working with the Bank of Uganda. His key areas of interest include sovereign debt management, asset price dynamics, and personal finance. Moses is currently a manager leading the team that handles government’s local currency debt market operations at the central bank.

"Umar is a Business Strategy professional with more than 8 years working experience in the Corporate Strategy & Business Development department of the largest industrial conglomerate in Africa - Dangote Group. Currently a Strategy Manager supporting the development and implementation of strategic initiatives across Dangote's Pan Africa operations with special focus on the Tanzania operations. 
Previous and current positions involve advising top management on strategic decisions, supporting Mergers and Acquisitions, and developing Business and Financial Models. Umar holds a First Class degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bayero University Kano, Nigeria. He is also a certified Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst with the Corporate Finance Institute, CFI"
