The Real Estate Investment Breakfast officially launched the 4th Alternative Investments Conference (AIC) 2026, convening regulators, pension trustees, fund managers, institutional investors, and developers for a high-level private dialogue on the theme "Investment Readiness for Pension." The session examined the growing case for real estate as a long-term institutional asset class capable of delivering stable returns and inflation protection, while surfacing the governance, transparency, and regulatory alignment challenges that continue to limit pension fund participation in East Africa.
Drawing on benchmarks from Kenya and the SADC region, participants identified cross-ecosystem collaboration as essential to structuring bankable opportunities aligned to institutional capital requirements ahead of AIC 2026.

SokoPlay Virtual Trading Webinar

CFA Society East Africa, in partnership with KASIB, hosted a webinar introducing SokoPlay, a virtual trading platform that lets users practice buying and selling NSE-listed shares using real-time market prices and virtual funds. Nick Lusago, Project Lead at SokoPlay, walked participants through the platform's key features including portfolio tracking, market views, analytics tools, and competitive leaderboards.
The session covered how to transition from virtual to real trading through a CDS account, and confirmed that SokoPlay is free for all CFA Society East Africa members. The platform is currently NSE-focused, with plans to expand across East African markets.
