The case for a recession is based on interest rates, money supply, banking troubles, corporate debt, corporate investment, the consumer weakening, the fiscal push receding, and the risk of not taming inflation. The other side of the debate focuses on inflation slowing, kinked supply curves, AI’s impact on productivity and inflation, excess savings and obligations being ok, corporate and government underinvestment reversing, the wealth effect and easing financial conditions, employment, and the services sector being solid.
