Charterholder Membership
The most distinguished professionals in the industry. Demonstrates a mastery of investment management skills and a commitment to continued excellence and ethics. Access to all member benefits.

  • Member of CFA Institute and CFA Society Sacramento 
  • 4000 hours of relevant work experience over 36+ months
  • Passed all three levels of the CFA Program
  • Professional references

Regular Membership
Provides seasoned industry professionals affiliation with CFA Institute and access to exclusive member benefits for continued education and career development.

  • Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or have equivalent education or work experience
  • Pass Level 1 of the CFA exam, Level II CIPM® or pass the self-administered Standards of Practice Exam 
  • 4000 hours of relevant work experience over 36+ months
  • 2 or 3 professional references.

Affiliate Membership
Individuals who are not qualified for CFA charterholder or regular membership can align with CFA Institute and take advantage of member benefits.

  • Provide professional reference statements
  • Agree to adhere to and sign the Member's Agreement and Professional Conduct Statement

Dues​

CFA Institute annual membership dues are $299 for Charterholder, Regular, and Affiliate. 
Society annual membership dues are $150 for Charterholder, Regular and Affiliate members.

Student Membership
Membership Criteria:

    • Pursue a bachelor's or master's degree in finance or other business courses of study related to the Investments field, and
    • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good standing at a California accredited college or university (waived for freshman students).
    • Students are required to attend a California University and have an .edu email address to submit to the Society.
    • The membership year spans from 1 July to 30 June and must be renewed annually as of 1 July.  
    • Membership termination: one year after graduation, or until the end of the membership year in which the student discontinues his/her studies toward a degree in business or finance.

    Students

    Guest Members
    Membership Criteria:

    • Reference from one CFA Society Sacramento Charterholder (If you don't know of a CFA Society Sacramento Charterholder, contact [email protected])
    • Adhere to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct
    • The membership year spans from 1 July to 30 June and must be renewed annually as of 1 July.
    • Anyone who works in financial services or academia are not eligible for the Guest membership.
