Regular Members Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or have equivalent education or work experience
- Pass Level I of the CFA exam or pass the self-administered Standards of Practice Examination as part of the activation process
- Have 48 months of acceptable professional work experience in investment decision making
- Provide professional reference statements
- Apply for membership in a CFA society. Society membership is voluntary and highly recommended. Learn more.
- Agree to adhere to and sign the Member's Agreement and the Professional Conduct Statement
- Pay annual dues
- Adhere to the OFAC Compliance Policy. Residents of certain countries may be prohibited by law from becoming a CFA Institute or Society Member.

Affiliate Members Requirements
- Fulfill the requirements for your selected member society

Associate Members Requirements
- The Associate Membership is only available to those who are not qualified to apply for the Regular or Affiliate membership
- All Associate Members must fulfill the sponsorship requirements outlined in Section 2.08 of the CFA Sacramento Society Bylaws.
Student Member Requirements
- Complete Student Member Application.
- Pursue a bachelor's or master's degree in finance or other business courses of study related to the Investments field, and
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good standing at an accredited college or university (waived for freshman students).
- Membership must be renewed annually on a 12-month cycle since the day your membership is accepted.
- Pay annual dues ($25).
- Membership termination: one year after graduation, or until the end of the membership year in which the student discontinues his/her studies toward a degree in business or finance.
Guest Member Requirements
