The ETF industry has been one of the biggest growth drivers within asset management, dominated by low-cost passive ETFs. Active ETFs are a relatively new phenomena but are growing rapidly, capturing over 20% of all 2023 ETF flows. Investors are attracted by transparency, tax efficiency and single unitary fees when compared to mutual funds, leading to adoption across the spectrum including by institutions.
