On February 7, 2026, the 2025/26 CFA Institute Research Challenge Malaysia Local Final brought together some of the country's most talented finance students for one of the most prestigious equity research competitions in the industry.
This year, teams took on the challenge of conducting comprehensive equity analysis on Tenaga Nasional Berhad, testing their ability to evaluate real-world investment opportunities through rigorous research and professional-grade financial analysis.
After months of dedicated preparation, we are proud to announce this year's top teams:
🥇 Local Champion: Universiti Malaya (UM) Team A
🥈 1st Runner-Up: Sunway College Team B
🥉 2nd Runner-Up: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Team A
The final round also featured strong performances from Multimedia University (MMU) Team A and Sunway College Team A, all of whom demonstrated exceptional analytical skills and professionalism throughout the competition.
Universiti Malaya Team A and Sunway College Team B will now represent Malaysia at the Sub-Regional Competition, carrying forward the research and insights they have developed over the course of this challenge.
Success in this competition doesn't happen in isolation.
