Speaker Details:
Tom Keene, CFA
Managing Editor
Bloomberg Television and Radio
‘It is about the guests, the conversation. I am the luckiest guy on Wall Street.’
Tom Keene is a Managing Editor for Bloomberg Television and Radio but far more for
the new new of Digital Media including Podcasts & YouTube. He is deep into his second
decade at Bloomberg. Matthew Winkler, founder of Bloomberg News asked him to conceive ‘Chart of the Day’ for the Bloomberg Terminal, and to lead the re-issuance of the Homer & Leibowitz classic, Inside the Yield Book. He edited ‘Flying on One Engine’ a pre-crisis, 14 chapters written by leading economists. Two chapters appeared in the CFA curriculum. He represented Bloomberg News at economic events in Beijing, Marrakech, Paris & Singapore.
Tom Keene founded Bloomberg on the Economy & Bloomberg Surveillance. The
premise: longer conversations with guests on Economics, Finance, Investment &
International Relations while at the same time covering Equities, Bonds, Currencies &
Commodities. The foundation of the shows from day-one was the Winkler creed, ‘Names Make News’.
He has enjoyed conversations with Allan Meltzer as crisis unfolded in 2007, Meghnad
Lord Desai the evening of the 2008 Mumbai attacks and, Milton Friedman & Robert
Lucas on the need for more microeconomics. Near Tokyo Station, he interviewed John Dower on Hiroshima.
At Davos, Tom Keene survived a joint interview of Kenneth Rogoff & Joseph Stiglitz.
Bill Gross & Mohamed El-Erian survived an interview on known knowns. He and
Christine Lagarde have discussed square-dancing (They did not allemande left). He
listened as Edward Lazear described windsurfing under the Golden Gate Bridge.
But far more, it is the daily grind of a global audience’s fear of the unknown unknowns as described by the markets: Seasoned strategists and analysts confident in their
surveillance.
Tom Keene is a textbook Kodak brat of Rochester, New York. He studied Aerospace
Engineering at the University of Colorado and took parchment in Ice Hockey & Biology
at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He studied through the External Programme of the London School of Economics.
He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Society Boston and CFA Society
New York. He is a member of the Economic Club of New York, and the Council on Foreign Relations.
Ben Jackson
Award winning magician
In 2010 Houston magician Ben Jackson became one of the youngest magicians to win 1st place at the World Magic Seminar’s International Close-up Magic Competition in Las Vegas, NV.
He had a lot in common with the presenter, Lance Burton, a former World Magic Seminar winner 30 years prior. Since then Ben has become the go-to choice for event planners around the country as a 2-time international champion of magic. Whether it’s demonstrating elegant sleight-of-hand at private parties or keeping audiences captivated as the master of ceremonies, Ben brings his fresh and creative approach to making any event unforgettable.
Companies contact Ben to spice up meetings, generate buzz at a trade show booth, or to strengthen their message to clients. He has appeared on NBC's TODAY alongside David Copperfield, at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, in HOUSTON Modern Luxury, and in the newly released book, Magic’s Most Amazing Stories.
Ben competed at the 2012 United States National Close-up Magic Competition (S.A.M.) at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas. He won 1st place, the People’s Choice Awards, and the Medal of Merit: an honor that has only been awarded 7 times since 1902. With an unprecedented “triple win” from the oldest and most prestigious magic society, it’s safe to say that Ben Jackson is taking the magic world by storm.
