Gain valuable insights into their investment approaches and hear their outlook on economic trends shaping the investment landscape.                        Speaker Details: Gilbert Garcia, CFA Managing Partner, Chief Investment Officer Garcia Hamilton  Mr. Garcia earned a B.A. in Economics from Yale University and began his career at Salomon Brothers, becoming a Vice President specializing in mortgage-backed securities. He later served as President of Cisneros Asset Management Company before joining Garcia Hamilton & Associates in 2002, where he is Managing Partner. Under his leadership, the firm has grown to over $25.7 billion in fixed income assets under management (as of September 30, 2025). Mr. Garcia has served on multiple federal advisory committees with the U.S. Treasury and SEC and is the longest-serving board member of SEO. He and the firm have received numerous industry and diversity honors, including Fixed Income Manager of the Year and Best Places to Work awards. He previously chaired Houston METRO, where he implemented the “Garcia Rule” to promote diverse manager inclusion. Mr. Garcia is married with four children. John Gualy, CFA Senior Partner Eagle Global Advisors John is a Senior Partner of Eagle Global Advisors. He serves as Co-Chairman of the U.S. and International Investment Committees, oversees the firm’s trading operations, is a Portfolio Manager, and is also a member of the investment committees for the firm’s strategies. Prior to joining Eagle, John was employed by Eagle Management & Trust Company and as director of research for Continental Intervest. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Texas and an MBA from Rice University. John holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, is a member of the CFA Institute and is a former President and Director of the CFA Society of Houston. He also served as an Adjunct Professor at Rice University Jones Graduate School of Business teaching an MBA class on Stock Analysis. John is a native of Colombia and is fluent in Spanish.  S.E. (Cody) Dick Senior Research Manager Fayez Sarofim &Co. S.E. (“Cody”) Dick is a Partner and Senior Research Analyst at Fayez Sarofim & Co.  Mr. Dick joined the firm in 2004.  He serves as the sector leader for the Energy and Utilities industries and is currently responsible for research of the Energy industry.  Mr. Dick is non-voting member of the investment committee.  He also serves as a portfolio manager for a variety of institutional and high net worth clients. Mr. Dick received an M.B.A. from the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University in 2001, and a B.S. in Political Science from Texas Christian University in 2000.  Prior to joining Fayez Sarofim & Co., he was a Financial Analyst in the Global Energy and Power Investment Banking Division and an Equity Research Associate in the Energy sector at Bank of America / Merrill Lynch.  Mr. Dick serves on the board of the Hermann Park Conservancy and on the leadership team of Advent Presbyterian Church in Houston.   This presentation will give 1.0 of PL credit. Speakers: Alejandra Grindal Chief Economist Ned Davis Research Alejandra Grindal is the Chief Economist for Ned Davis Research Group. She is the primary person in charge of the firm’s global economic outlook, and is responsible for identifying global economic trends and themes, particularly as they relate to developments in equity, fixed income, commodity, and currency markets. In recent years, Alejandra has been particularly focused on global demographics and labor force trends, China’s economic transition, and Japan’s lost decade. She joined Ned Davis Research Group in 2006. Alejandra is a member of the National Association for Business Economics, where she has been involved in various committees, such as the International Roundtable and the Business Conditions and Policy Surveys. She is a frequent speaker at professional and investment conferences. Her work has been quoted in national media, including Barron’s, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, and TIME, and is a guest on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, and TD Ameritrade Network.  Prior to joining Ned Davis Research Group, Alejandra taught Microeconomics and Macroeconomics at Florida State University during her graduate studies, and then worked as a full-time professor at Santa Fe College and Edison College. Alejandra also worked in British Parliament as a research assistant, where she participated in policy and constituent research and campaign marketing. Alejandra received her Masters degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and International Affairs, with summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa distinction, from Florida State University. Steve Brown CIO Guggenheim   Steve is Chief Investment Officer, Fixed Income, Senior Managing Director, and a Portfolio Manager for Guggenheim’s Active Fixed Income, Total Return, and Insurance Mandates. He joined Guggenheim in 2010. Steve works with the Chief Investment Officer, the Sector Teams, Portfolio Management, Macroeconomic Research, and the Portfolio Construction Group to develop and execute investment strategy. Mr. Brown was previously a member of the structured credit sector team at Guggenheim. Prior to joining Guggenheim, he held roles focused on structured products at Bank of America and ABN AMRO. He received a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the CFA Institute. Alessandro Valentini, CFA Fundamental Portfolio Manager Causeway Capital Mr. Valentini is a director and fundamental portfolio manager at Causeway and is responsible for investment research in the global healthcare, financials and real estate sectors. He joined the firm in July 2006 and has been a portfolio manager since April 2013. During the summer of 2005, Mr. Valentini worked as a research analyst at Thornburg Investment Management, where he conducted fundamental research for the International Value Fund and the Value Fund, focusing on the European telecommunication and Canadian oil sectors. From 2000 to 2004, Mr. Valentini worked as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs in the European equities research sales division in New York. Mr. Valentini earned an MBA from Columbia Business School, with honors, an MA in economics from Georgetown and a BS, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University. Mr. Valentini was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma honors society, is a Phi Beta Kappa member, and is a CFA charterholder. Moderator: Mark McMeans, CFA CFA Houston longtime member Brasada Capital Mark McMeans is CEO of Brasada Capital Management, a Registered Investment Advisor located in Houston, Texas that he co-founded in 2008.  At Brasada, Mark is the lead manager on the firm’s Brasada Equity strategy and is an advisor to some amazing and successful families.  Prior to founding Brasada, Mark worked for sixteen years at AIM Investments (now Invesco), which was named the top performing mutual fund company of the 1990’s by Barron’s, as Director of Equity Investments and Managing Director, AIM Capital Management, and President and Chief Operating Officer, AIM Private Asset Management, Inc. He also served as a Global Partner of AIM’s parent company, Invesco. Prior to AIM, Mark held positions at JP Morgan Chase and KPMG, LLC. Mark received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, where he currently serves on the Advisory Board for the MBA Investment Fund, LLC. He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree, with a concentration in finance, from Rice University in Houston, TX, where he serves on the Oversight Board of the M.A. Wright student-managed fund, Jones Graduate School of Business. Presentation Summary: Hear all about the nation’s number one port from Port Houston CEO Charlie Jenkins. Learn the history that shaped Houston’s port into the economic powerhouse it is today, the current port priorities, and the vision to keep our port competitive for decades to come. Speaker Details: Charlie Jenkins Chief Executive Officer Charlie Jenkins assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer in late August 2024. In this role, he oversees advocacy and stewardship of Houston’s port and the Houston Ship Channel, the nation’s busiest waterway. More than 200 public and private facilities conduct business alongside the Channel and together support $906 billion in annual economic value. Mr. Jenkins also oversees the efficient and effective operations of Port Houston’s public facilities, which handle a diverse range of imports and exports including container, general cargo, breakbulk, and bulk commodities and include the area’s largest breakbulk facilities and two of the most efficient container terminals in the nation. Mr. Jenkins has been with Port Houston for more than 34 years and has served in various capacities during his tenure. He started with the Port as the first intern the organization ever had. Throughout his Port Houston career, he has worked in several departments including container operations, strategic planning, environmental affairs, channel development, financial planning, Bayport Container Terminal, and the grants department. Most recently, he was the Chief Channel Infrastructure Officer, overseeing channel development, the partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to maintain and improve the Houston Ship Channel, as well as the Port Houston Strategic Asset Management Program and GIS.   Mr. Jenkins is actively involved in several industry organizations. He is a Board Member of the Texas Ports Association, the Port Authority Advisory Committee, and the Greater Houston Port Bureau. Additionally, he serves on the Texas A&M University at Galveston’s Board of Visitors, where he is part of the Committee on Student Affairs. He is also a member of the H-GAC Transportation Policy Council.   An honors graduate of Texas A&M University at Galveston, Mr. Jenkins earned a bachelor’s degree in marine sciences and later completed his MBA at the University of Houston. He resides in the Clear Lake area with his wife, and they are proud parents of three and grandparents of two. This presentation will give 1.0 of PL credit. Garage and valet parking available. CFAH holds educational luncheons and events from September through May. Our meetings are routinely suspended for June, July, and August.
