Our board and team

CFA Society New Zealand is led by a team of committed volunteer Directors who plan and implement the strategic vision for the society.  Most Directors oversee a portfolio or a strategic area.

The Board meet regularly to carry out governance, provide updates on their portfolios, and to plan and review initiatives.

David Kandziora, CFA, CAIA – Board Chair


David is a Senior Investment Consultant at Russell Investments. He is part of the team that delivers a range of services to assist institutional investors in meeting their goals, including investment strategy, governance advice and implementation services through Russell Investments’ Outsourced Chief Investment Officer solution.Prior to joining Russell Investments in 2020, David worked in a variety of consulting and advisory roles focused on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and economic analysis. David has a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Auckland.

Chelsea Leadbetter, CFA – Board Director

Chelsea is a Senior Equity Analyst at Forsyth Barr, with her current primary stock coverage including the Healthcare sector, Gaming sector and coverage within the Food, Beverage & Agriculture sector. She has a BCom and BSc from Victoria University, majoring in Finance and Psychology and has an Honours degree in Finance.

Christina Leung, CFA – Board Vice Chair


Christina is Deputy Chief Executive (Auckland) and Principal Economist at the NZ Institute of Economic Research (NZIER), where she looks after economic forecasts and analysis of the Quarterly Survey of Business Opinion. She previously worked at the Reserve Bank and ASB. Christina holds a Bachelor of Commerce with first class honours in Economics.

Eric Wei, CFA – Board Director

Eric is the managing director at Fidelity Capital Partners, where he manages assets for large institutional clients and family offices.  He previously led the Wealth Management Asia/Global Markets division at Jarden. Prior to this Eric was the Head of Family Office at Bank of China (NZ) Limited. Eric has a Masters of Applied Finance degree from Victoria University.

Philip Houghton-Brown, CFA – Board Director


Philip is Head of Investment Solutions, BT Funds Management (NZ). Prior to joining BT in September 2020, Philip gained 31 years of investment experience. He was previously the Chief Investment Officer and a partner at Mercer NZ;  Chief Investment Officer at ING/OnePath NZ, following roles in investment strategy and quantitative analysis; and a Fund Manager for AMP Asset Management UK.

Shane Solly, CFA – Board Director


Shane is a Director at Harbour Asset Management, portfolio manager for the Harbour Equity Focus Fund and the Harbour Real Estate Fund, and also supports the management of Harbour’s other equity mandates. Shane has more than 25 years experience managing portfolios for investors at ANZ, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, ING and Mint. He holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance from Massey University.

Stuart Millar, CFA – Board Director


Stuart is Chief Investment officer at Smartshares Ltd. Stuart’s career in capital markets began working at JP Morgan, London. He returned to New Zealand to join what was then Armstrong Jones (NZ) Ltd as an Investment Analyst. This was followed by twenty years in investment strategy and portfolio management for the ING and ANZ Investments businesses.

Kristen Yong, CFA – Board Director

  
Kristen is the Investment Performance and Risk Manager at Milford Asset Management. She runs a team that is primarily responsible for performance and risk reporting and analytics, while having oversight of fund fees, investment mandate compliance and regulatory disclosures. She graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours in Finance).

John Horrell, CFA – Board Director and Treasurer

  
John is a consultant and co-founder of Makao Investments, an independent investment advisory business. Prior to this, John worked in the UK and New Zealand in roles that included fiduciary management, asset allocation, portfolio implementation and performance reporting. He has a Bachelor of Commerce and is a member of the CAIA Association.

Kylee manages society operations, including administration, events, marketing and communications.  As the society ‘Secretary’, Kylee is also a Director of the society.
