About CFA Society Pakistan

CFA Society Pakistan is a member society of the CFA Institute, founded in 2002 and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) as a not-for-profit organization on March 24, 2005. The head office is based in Karachi.

We stand to promote the highest standards of ethical and professional excellence within the local investment community. Our growing member community represents a broad base within the financial and investment industry, holding various positions in leading national and global organizations such as investment and fund analysts, portfolio managers, financial analysts, investment bankers, regulators, corporate bankers and treasury managers. Active member volunteers are the core strength of the Society who help us achieve our goals.

Our goal is to create value for our members by providing relevant learning opportunities, career resources, membership support, networking, and leadership opportunities.

CFA Society Pakistan Awards

Outstanding Research Award - June 2021

Awarded for the 'Fintech 2020' Report. 

The report is an original research publication by CFA Society Pakistan that was led by Ms. Sadaf Shabbir, CFA, Director, CFA Society Pakistan. 

CFA, Volunteer of the Year Award: APAC Region - July 2020

Awarded to Mr. Muhammad Asim, CFA. 

Mr. Asim has been volunteering for CFA Society Pakistan devotedly since 2010 and we highly appreciate his commitment, leadership and enthusiasm to positively impact the strategic goals of the Society.

Most Improved Membership Retention - September 2019, Indonesia  

CFA Society Pakistan was recognized by the CFA Institute as the Society with ''Most Improved Membership Retention'' amongst all Asia-Pacific Societies at the CFA Institute Society Leadership Conference in Bali, Indonesia.

Volunteer of the Year: Lifetime Achievement Award – May 2019

Awarded to Mr.Mohammad Shoaib, CFA  at the 2019 Global CFA Society Leadership Conference held in London, England by the CFA Institute. 

Mr. Shoaib is the founder of CFA Society Pakistan and has been volunteering for the Society devotedly since its inception in 2002.

Most Outstanding Society (200 - 399 Members) Award – May 2017

CFA Society Pakistan was awarded Most Outstanding Society (200 - 399 Members) in recognition of exceptional across the board performance in all areas of CFA Institute strategic actions and organizational goals. The award was formally presented during the 'Society Leaders Conference' ('SLC') held in Philadelphia, United States of America in May 2017 in a gathering of society leaders from all over the world.

Research Foundation Award - 2015

From amongst 146 competing societies, CFA Society Pakistan was the winner of the CFA Institute Research Foundation Award in 2015 recognizing the work and dedication shown by the Society in its outreach activities to promote research activities locally.

Volunteer of the Year Award - 2015

Awarded to Mr. Ashraf Bava, CFA – President, CFA Society Pakistan won the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2015 at CFA Society Leadership Conference held in Hong Kong. 

Mr. Ashraf Bava has been associated with the CFA Society since its inception in 2002 in various roles and is currently serving as President of CFA Society Pakistan. Mr. Bava pushed CFA Society Pakistan to go from an events-only based organization to one focused on advocacy and regulation.

The Most Outstanding Society by Size Award - 2014

CFA Society Pakistan received the Most Outstanding Society Award (200-399 Members) in 2014. The society increased its outreach to members, employers, candidates and universities through tangible relationships and technology. The success of their efforts can be quantified through recognition in the media and a huge increase in CE hours.

Research Foundation Award - 2013

The Research Foundation Award was received by CFA Society in 2013 due to its outreach activities locally in promoting research conducted by CFA Institute as well as promoting research efforts locally.

Innovation Award - 2009

From amongst 136 competing societies, CFA Society Pakistan was the winner of the CFA Institute Innovation Award in 2009. The award was conferred on account of CFA Society Pakistan's initiative of using CNBC Channel to promote CFA Program by inviting successful charterholder to CNBC Power Lunch program.

Planning Award - 2008

From amongst 132 competing societies, CFA Society Pakistan was the winner of the CFA Institute Planning Award in 2008; the only non-North American society to have won an award amongst the four categories of Planning, Collaboration, Innovation, and Rehabilitation. The award was conferred on account of CFA Society Pakistan's Strategic Planning. 

Innovation Award - 2006

From amongst 132 competing societies, CFA Society Pakistan was the winner of the CFA Institute Innovation Award in 2006; the only non-North American society to have won an award amongst the four categories of Planning, Collaboration, Innovation, and Rehabilitation.

The award was conferred on account of the Annual Excellence Awards program, aimed at promoting global best practices amongst investment practitioners. The Annual Excellence Awards are the first of its kind initiative taken by any society of CFA Institute.
