Seminar on "“Reforms and Privatisation to Unfold the Investment Cycle.”

CFA Society Pakistan successfully hosted a focused and insightful seminar in Lahore on “Reforms and Privatisation to Unfold the Investment Cycle,” bringing together key voices at the intersection of policy, regulation, and investment.

At a time when Pakistan's economic challenges require bold decisions and fresh thinking, this seminar aimed to spark an honest conversation about what meaningful reform looks like — and how privatisation can become a tool to build credibility, attract capital, and restore investor confidence.

The seminar featured:

Mr. Muhammad Ali, Adviser on Privatisation & Chairman, Privatisation Commission, who offered a clear-eyed view into the state’s current approach to privatisation. He candidly discussed what’s working, what’s not, and what it will take to turn stalled efforts into real progress.

Mr. Abdul Rehman Warraich, CFA, FRM, Commissioner at SECP, who provided a regulator’s perspective on reforms needed to strengthen capital markets, protect investors, and make Pakistan a more viable investment destination.

The discussion was expertly moderated by Mr. Asif Ali Qureshi, CFA, Director, CFA Society Pakistan, who posed sharp questions and helped draw out forward-looking insights from the speakers.

The event also served as a platform for investment professionals, policymakers, and market participants to engage in meaningful dialogue, share experiences, and reflect on what the future of economic reform could (and should) look like.

CFA Society Pakistan remains committed to fostering these essential conversations and creating platforms where serious, solutions-driven dialogue can happen. Following the seminar, a Charter Award Ceremony was held to recognize and celebrate the achievements of newly minted CFA Charterholders — marking the beginning of their journey as stewards of ethics, excellence, and leadership in the investment profession.
