Vision 2025: Market Forecast and Fund Excellence

The geopolitical and economic landscape is shifting rapidly, and few events have the potential to reshape the global order more than the return of Donald J. Trump to the U.S. presidency. Against this backdrop, CFA Society Philippines presents Vision 2025, a premier thought leadership event that explores the potential implications of a second Trump administration on the Philippine economy and financial markets.

As the Philippines continues to play an important role in an interconnected global economy, shifts in U.S. policies could trigger far-reaching effects on trade, foreign direct investment, currency movements, and regional stability. Trump's first term was marked by significant changes in international trade agreements, tax reforms, and diplomatic relations—transformations that created both challenges and opportunities for emerging markets like the Philippines. Vision 2025 will delve into these issues, providing a platform for financial professionals, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to better understand and prepare for the potential disruptions and opportunities that may arise.

This event will feature a distinguished panel of experts who will offer insights into global and regional trends, trade relations, investment flows, and economic resilience. Each speaker brings invaluable expertise in their field:

  • RJ Aguirre, Executive Director & Head of Research and Strategy at UBS Securities Philippines, will share his extensive experience in sell-side research and investment banking, offering actionable insights into how sectoral trends, especially in equities and property markets, could be impacted by changes in global dynamics.
  • Aris Dacanay, ASEAN Economist at HSBC Asia Economics Team, will examine the promises and challenges facing the region, shedding light on how ASEAN economies—including the Philippines—can adapt to shifting geopolitical landscapes and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Nicholas Mapa, Chief Economist, Market Strategist, and Head of the Research and Market Strategy Department at Metrobank, renowned for his expertise in monetary and fiscal policy, will explore the potential impacts of Trump-era economic policies on the Philippine peso, inflation, and investment climate.
  • April Lee-Tan, CFA, Chief Equity Strategist of COL Financial, will discuss the outlook for the Philippine stock market, focusing on how investor sentiment and corporate strategies may shift in response to new global uncertainties.

In addition to the panel discussions, the event will also highlight the Best Managed Funds of the Year Awards, recognizing the Philippines' top-performing fund managers who have demonstrated exceptional skills in navigating market volatility, creating client value, and upholding the highest standards of investment management.

The CFA Society Philippines Best Managed Funds of the Year Awards aim to raise awareness among retail investors by recognizing professionally managed funds that have achieved the highest risk-adjusted returns (for actively managed funds) or lowest tracking error (for index funds) compared to their peers. This recognition is important for investors who entrust their hard-earned money to fund managers, ensuring their future growth and security.

Join us at Vision 2025 as we explore the potential ramifications of a renewed Trump administration on the Philippine economy and financial markets, strategize on how to navigate the evolving global landscape, and celebrate market excellence through the Best Managed Funds of the Year. This is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of global market trends, stay ahead of geopolitical changes, and take decisive actions for your investments and financial strategies.
