Volunteer for CFA Society New Zealand
There are lots of opportunities for members and CFA candidates to get involved more with the society. Volunteers can learn new skills, connect with new people, pursue a topic of interest, and help others. It doesn’t have to take much of your time and you aren't expected to volunteer for life - it is usually for a specific timeframe.
Examples of groups and initiatives you can get involved in are; the Candidate Committee, University outreach, the mentoring programme.
If you’re interested, please complete online application/expresssion of interest and it's a good idea to email us too. We’ll help to find something that suits you.

Pathway to Governance and Volunteering
The CFA Society New Zealand (“the Society”) is governed by a Board of Directors (“the Board”), with an elected Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.
The Board is a team of committed volunteers who plan and implement the strategic mission, vision and direction for the society. Most directors oversee a portfolio or a strategic area. The Board regularly meets to govern the Society, provide updates on portfolios, and to plan, oversee and review strategic initiatives and monitor the annual work programme.
Associate Directors work alongside the Board and act as Vice Chairs of our various Portfolio Subcommittees:
- Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
- Candidate Outreach
- Member Engagement
- Events
- University Outreach.
Committee members are Society members or candidates who have expressed interest in getting involved with the Society and who contribute their time and resources to advancing the mission of the Society and helping the Board to deliver on the Society’s strategic goals.
Many of our directors have started out as volunteers, getting involved with university or candidate outreach, helping with events or acting as ambassadors for the Society and CFA Program. From there, many go on to become Associate Directors, overseeing the functions of their specific subcommittee before stepping up to a directorship once their experience and skills match the needs and openings at the Board level.
All directors are CFA Charterholders and have been involved in the Society for several years across different functions prior to becoming a director.
The Society is largely a volunteer driven organisation and relies heavily on the support of Society members and candidates.
