Mentoring Programme

2026/27 Programme Now Open

Applications are now open for the CFA Society New Zealand Mentoring Programme 2026/27.

The mentoring programme brings together experienced professionals and emerging talent to support career development, strengthen professional standards, and foster a more connected CFA community across New Zealand.

Running from September 2026 to August 2027, the programme provides a valuable opportunity to build meaningful professional relationships, share knowledge, and learn from one another.

Programme Objectives

The programme aims to:

  • Help mentees develop the skills needed for career development
  • Raise professional standards across the finance and investment profession
  • Further strengthen New Zealand's CFA community

Programme Commitment

The programme runs for one year (September 2026 – August 2027), with an estimated total commitment of approximately 20 hours, including:

  • Attending an orientation session
  • Six meetings between the mentor and mentee
  • Completing programme feedback surveys
  • Attending a wrap-up event

Mentees are expected to take the lead in initiating communication and scheduling meetings with their mentors.

Resources and guidance will be provided to all participants throughout the programme.

Eligibility

Mentors should:

  • Be a CFA Society New Zealand member
  • Ideally have at least eight years' experience in the finance and investment profession

As a mentee, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals within New Zealand's CFA community while developing the skills, confidence and connections to support your career.

The programme is designed to help you set meaningful development goals, broaden your professional network, and gain valuable insights from experienced industry leaders.

Eligibility

Applicants should:

  • Have at least two years' experience in the finance and investment profession
  • Be a CFA Society New Zealand member (Regular or Associate)

Mentees are expected to take responsibility for scheduling meetings and driving the mentoring relationship throughout the programme.

Mentor and mentee matches will be made based on the information provided in each application. While every effort will be made to create suitable matches, placements will depend on the applications received.
